February 23, 2017Recruiting profile featuring Zamir White, the No. 4 prospect in the inaugural CI 25 recruiting rankings.
CI 25 Overall Ranking: No. 4
CI 25 Position Ranking: No. 1
Hometown: Laurinburg, North Carolina
School: Scotland High School
Position: RB
Height: 6’1″
Weight: 210 lbs
Dynamic, explosive tailbacks like Zamir White don’t grow on trees. If they did, we’d be planting a whole field of them. He’s a tremendous combination of size, power and speed. You can send him between the tackles or get him out on the perimeter, and he’ll find a way to tally up the yards quickly. A true player comparison is tough to narrow down for White, but when he takes on defenders and bounces off failed tackle attempts, he draws up images of Marshawn Lynch.
His vision and agility are applaudable, and he’d be an ideal fit for Clemson. Of course, it’s hard to find an offense that White couldn’t excel in. But Dabo Swinney would put him in a position to succeed early on.
“White is instinctive and has very good vision. He can make defenders miss or run over them. White can also run inside or outside and is a threat to go the distance every time he touches the ball. ” – Scout
Status: Uncommitted
Notable Offers: Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee
White has a top four of Georgia, Alabama, Clemson and North Carolina, in order. Alabama and Georgia are both stacked with running backs, but his mom is high on both. North Carolina certainly has an uphill battle, while Clemson can sell itself as the defending national champion.
The Tigers are looking to add a piece to their backfield with Wayne Gallman moving on. But the reality of the situation is that Clemson is in a similar boat to that of Alabama and Georgia. All three programs have talented tailbacks who would be ahead of White on the depth chart. The two key factors in his recruitment are early reps and the school atmosphere. So, he’ll likely end up wherever he feels most at home.
