Four-star wide receiver Xavier Williams committed to Alabama on Tuesday night, giving the Crimson Tide four total commits in the 2018 recruiting class.

Right now, Nick Saban and his staff are trying to hold on strong through the end of the 2017 cycle, as the Crimson Tide still have the No. 1 overall class with 25 total commits.

But that won’t lessen their focus from working on the following year’s batch of prospects.

On Tuesday night, 4-star prospect Xavier Williams committed to Alabama despite having additional offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan and others.

Williams, who’s ranked as the No. 5 wide receiver and No. 42 overall player in the 2018 class, released a statement regarding his decision to commit to the Tide.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for all the gifts and blessings he has delivered to my family and me. I would like to thank my immediate family for supporting me through everything. Also, [I] would like to thank everyone who has came [into] my life and have been nothing but positive supporters. I want to thank Chaminade, my teammates and coaches for letting me display my talent [and] also getting a great education. Without further ado, I would like to verbally commit to the University of Alabama.”

Providing he sticks with his commitment, Williams, who’s from Hollywood, Florida, would join a long line of receivers to go from the Sunshine State to Tuscaloosa.

Incoming freshman Jerry Jeudy is from Deerfield Beach, and seeing former Coconut Creek standout Calvin Ridley play at an elite level for Alabama made his decision that much easier. And, of course, we can’t forget about Miami native Amari Cooper, who’s now playing on Sundays for the Oakland Raiders.

Williams could be the Tide’s next star pass catcher.
