No. 6 Xavier was still rocking an undefeated record, having won its first 12 games of the season, but Villanova ended that on Thursday. The Musketeers haven’t allowed a team to hit 70 points in the Cintas Center since Miami (Ohio) put up 72 in the first game of the season.
They’ll welcome No. 9-ranked Butler, as the Bulldogs come in having dropped its second game of the season following a 81-73 loss to Providence Thursday.

Prediction
The Musketeers have been playing really well at home. Xavier will lock down on defense, but it won’t hold Butler under 70. Dunham will work from the perimeter, but Bluiett and Sumner will carry the workload offensively and pull out a win.

- Edmond Sumner is the Wayman Tisdale National Freshman of the Week for games ending the week of Dec. 27. Sumner put up a career-best 21 points, nine rebounds and a pair of assists and steals in Xavier’s 78-70 win at Wake Forest last Tuesday.
- Xavier was 13-3 at home last season, including a win against Butler, 73-56.
