Will Grier's suspension appeal is being processed, and the Florida Gators are hoping for some good news. Here's an update on the latest between his lawyers and the NCAA.
November 16, 2015Will Grier led the Florida Gators to a 6-0 start before being suspended for a calendar year after violating NCAA rules for testing positive for a banned substance.
Grier’s appeal of the suspension is currently being processed, and both he and the Gators are hopeful that the 365-day suspension will be shortened so he can return at the beginning of next season.
According to Justin Parker, of the Lake Norman Citizen, Grier and his lawyers will be in contact with the NCAA this afternoon.
“Will Grier and his lawyers have a conference call/appeal with the NCAA this afternoon. Goal is to get his 365-day suspension reduced,” tweeted Parker.
Parker spent time with Grier, who is back home in Davidson, N.C., to watch his dad coach his high school team in the state final. Grier told Parker he’s in “good spirits,” but he hasn’t known what to do with himself without football.
The Gators have turned over the starting job to sophomore Treon Harris, who has gone 3-1 as the starter since Grier was suspended.
