Defending national champion Clemson has won the last four ACC Championships and Florida State won the conference crown in 2014, so the conference champion has advanced to the College Football Playoff in every year of the playoff era.

That means the 2019 ACC Championship should be circled on the calendars of die-hard football fans because history says the winner will likely go to the playoff. The 2019 ACC Championship will be held at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina on Dec. 7.

If the ACC preseason media poll holds true, Clemson and Virginia will meet in Charlotte. The Tigers were nearly a unanimous choice to win the conference as they received 170 votes, while Syracuse received two and Virginia received one.

Clemson has clinched the ACC Atlantic, while Virginia currently leads the ACC Coastal by half a game through Week 12.

Syracuse and Miami (FL) were picked to finish second in the ACC Atlantic and ACC Coastal divisions, respectively.

Clemson has been ranked in every edition of the selection committee’s CFP rankings, including eight weeks in which the Tigers were ranked No. 1.
