    1. In a sloppy game with each team getting penalized ten times and with Maryland turning it over six times, West Virginia roared out to a 21-0 first quarter lead and a 45-0 advantage highlighted by four Skyler Howard touchdown passes including two to Shelton Gibson from 15 and 41 yards out.

    2. Maryland didn’t get on the board until the fourth quarter on a 46-yard Daxx Garman pass to Jahrvis Davenport.

    3. Rushel Shell and Wendell Smallwood each ran for two short touchdowns, but it was the Mountaineer defense that dominated with the takeaways and stops. Five different players came up with interceptions.

    West Virginia

    – Skyler Howard completed 21-of-33 passes for 294 yards and four scores with a pick. Shelton Gibson caught six passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns.

    – Wendell Smallwood ran 22 times for 147 yards and a score, and Rushel Shell ran 15 times for 77 yards and a touchdown.

    Maryland

    – Brandon Ross ran 15 times for 130 yards.

    – Daxx Garman completed 4-of-9 passes for 86 yards and a score with a pick, and Caleb Rowe completed 10-of-27 passes for 67 yards with four interceptions.
