    West Virginia ran for 300 yards and four scores with Wendell Smallwood scoring from 16 yards out and Rushel Shell starting out the scoring with a five-yard touchdown run and adding a three-yarder in the third to break a 17-17 tie. The Mountaineers were finally able to pull away for good on a two-yard Skyler Howard run, but Texas Tech kept on pressing. Patrick Mahomes threw three touchdown passes including a 71-yarder to RB DeAndre Washington late in the fourth, but West Virginia ran out the clock.

    Player of the Game: West Virginia RB Wendell Smallwood ran 22 times for 163 yards and a score, and Rushel Shell ran 14 times for 111 yards and two touchdowns.

    Baylor vs. Kansas State

    Jarrett Stidham came up with a huge performance in his first game as the Baylor starting quarterback, throwing for 419 yards with scoring passes to Corey Coleman from 81 and three yards out, and a 55-yard touchdown pass to KD Cannon, but Kansas State hung around with Joe Hubener and the running game. The Wildcat quarterback barreled in from one-yard out in the first quarter, took off for a 34-yard touchdown dash in the fourth, and found Deante Burton for a ten-yard touchdown to help pull KSU within seven late. Baylor drove down the field, but a missed field goal gave the Wildcats one more shot, but Terrell Burt picked off a pass in the final minute to give the Bears the win. Hubener ran for 153 yards and two scores helping Kansas State hold on to the ball for over 38 minutes – but three KSU turnovers and no takeaways were disastrous. Baylor was flagged 11 times for 119 yards, Kansas State was hit for seven flags for 40 yards.

    Player of the Game: Baylor QB Jarrett Stidham completed 23-of-33 passes for 419 yards and three scores, and ran six times for seven yards and a score.

    TCU at Oklahoma State

    Oklahoma State made its big statement in the College Football Playoff chase as Mason Rudolph threw five touchdown passes including an 82-yard play to Marcell Ateman and three to James Washington from 48, 50 and a backbreaking 74-yarder on the way to the stunning win. The defense picked off Trevone Boykin four times, allowing just two Boykin one-yard touchdown runs on the way to a 42-16 lead going into the fourth. TCU tried to climb back in it with two fourth quarter scores, getting within 13, but Chad Whitener put it away with his second interception of the day, taking it 42 yards for a score. TCU outgained PSU 663 yards to 456, but was a -4 in turnover margin.

    Player of the Game: Oklahoma State QB Mason Rudolph completed 16-of-24 passes for 352 yards and five scores, and ran eight times for 26 yards.

    Kansas at Texas

    Texas dominated from the stars, scoring the first 17 points of the game kicking off with an 84-yard touchdown pass to John Burt on the first team’s first play from scrimmage. Tyrone Swoopes, only ran four times, but he made them count running for three short scores and one big one, running in from 44 yards away. D’Onta Foreman added a 93-yard scoring dash for the Longhorns in the third, and tacked on a nine-yard touchdown run to put it away. Kansas managed to hang around early, keeping it a ten point game at halftime on a one-yard De’Andre Mann touchdown run, but it was all Texas in the second half. Texas outgained Kansas 598 yards to 426.

    Player of the Game: Texas QB Tyrone Swoopes completed 6-of-7 passes for 98 yards and a score, and ran four times for 59 yards and four touchdowns.

    Iowa State at Oklahoma

    Oklahoma bombed away early with Baker Mayfield finding Dimitri Flowers for a 75-yard touchdown off a flea-flicker, and Dede Westbrook for a 27-yard scoring play on the way to a 21-3 first quarter lead. Iowa State could only managed three Cole Netten field goals in the first half, and then the floodgates opened up. Sterling Shepard caught a 74-yard touchdown pass, Joe Mixon ran for a 57-yard score, and Mark Andrew caught a 55-yard touchdown pass on the way to a 52-9 OU lead before ISU got into the end zone on a 13-yard D’Vario Montgomery catch late. The Sooners outgained the Cyclones 684 yards to 374.

    Player of the Game: Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield completed 23-of-31 passes for 342 yards and three scores, and ran ten times for 27 yards and a touchdown.
