The Weber State Wildcats have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.

    Resume

    Team: Weber State Wildcats

    Record:
    26-8

    Conference:
    Big Sky

    Head coach:
    Randy Rahe

    How they got here:
     Won conference tournament

    The Good

Weber State is about two players, junior guard Jeremy Senglin and senior forward Joel Bolomboy. Senglin is the Wildcats’ leading scorer, a player who can light up the scoreboard both inside and out. He can knock down the three at a 44 percent clip, he makes 49.3 percent of his shots overall, and he is a decent passer to boot. Bolomboy averages a double-double, and he has just enough range to keep opponents honest from the perimeter. He’s a great rebounder shots 58.9 percent from the field. Oh, supporting cast Kyndahl Hill and Zach Braxton also shoot better than 60 percent from the floor, making them efficient options.

    The Bad

Few teams are better top to bottom when it comes to shooting the ball than Weber State, but the drop-off in terms of pure production beyond Senglin and Bolomboy is pretty steep. Those two can also be extremely careless with the ball at times, and that has cost them at times this season.

    Prediction

Look for Weber State to throw a scare into their opponent in the first round. This isn’t an explosive team, but the Wildcats’ ability to make shots is going to put a lot of pressure on their opponent to make every possession count. The game is likely to be competitive, too. Of Weber State’s eight losses, six of them have come by five points or less, and three of them came by either one point or in overtime.
