Washington State wide receiver River Cracraft reportedly has a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the 2016 season for the Cougars.
With Washington having fallen to USC and Washington State having beaten Cal, 56-21, on Saturday night, Mike Leach’s team has now claimed control of first place in the Pac-12 North division.
However, the Cougars will have to continue their hunt for a conference title without one of their major targets in the passing game.
Washington State senior wide receiver River Cracraft will reportedly miss the rest of the 2016 season with a torn ACL, according to Scout. Cracraft hauled in nine catches for 87 yards and three touchdowns from quarterback Luke Falk in the win over the Golden Bears before going down in the third quarter.
Cracraft signed with the Cougars as a 3-star prospect and the No. 159 wide receiver in the 2013 class.
In 10 games this season, he had caught 53 passes for 701 yards and five touchdowns. Cracraft has 218 catches for 2,701 yards and 20 touchdowns in 41 games over his Wazzu career.
Falk and the Washington State offense will likely have to rely on Gabe Marks and Tavares Martin Jr., who have combined for 122 receptions, 1,296 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns this season.
On Saturday night, Marks broke a couple of records. He set the Pac-12 record with his 295th career reception. He also broke the Wazzu school record with 3,217 career receiving yards — only 516 yards more than where Cracraft will finish in his Cougars career.
Washington State will visit Colorado next weekend before preparing for the Apple Cup on Nov. 25.
