In a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately business, a win over Utah might help Mark Helfrich save his job despite all the prior struggles. Even if that scenario were true, the Ducks aren’t going to win this game, and Helfrich likely will be out of work soon. Justin Herbert has a lot of promise and could be a star next year, but the Utes won’t let him do much in this one. Utah by 17.

To the guy who made fun of me on Twitter for picking Oregon to beat Utah this weekend, thanks for the input. Your Devontae Booker cover photo surely doesn’t mean you’re biased — sure … sure it doesn’t. Anyway, Justin Herbert is young, and the kid has some serious talent. Tony Brooks-James will play a big role in the passing game, and Royce Freeman will find the end zone on the ground. Joe Williams has been amazing since he came back from retirement, but I think Herbert throws the Ducks to a victory here.

Ducks quarterback Justin Herbert certainly has a very bright future. But Kyle Whittingham consistently fields a physical, yet speedy, Utes defense, and that talent will show off once again this week. The Ducks will be able to spring some big plays, but the Utes will clamp down in the red zone. Utah running back Joe Williams will find his share of yards on the ground, and quarterback Troy Williams will do just enough to keep the offense balanced in a win over Mark Helfrich’s Ducks.

Do coaches that get fired by Oregon refuse to wear Nike for the rest of their life? I would. I would be so bitter about Phil Knight and his dream of a national championship and his resemblance to Hank Scorpio from that The Simpsons episode where the family moves to Cypress Creek because Homer gets a great job but is unknowingly working for a villain that wants to rule the world.

    Anyyyyyyhooooooo….Utah wins.
