    Holiday Bowl Recap

    Score: Wisconsin 23, USC 21

    Prediction: Wisconsin 27, USC 24, Line: USC -3, o/u: 50.5

And You Care Because … Rafael Gaglianone hit three field goals including a 29-yarder to give the Badgers a 23-21 lead with 2:27 to play, and then the defense held on with two stops. USC just missed on a big pass down the field, but couldn’t get into field goal range missing on a fourth down play. Corey Clement ran for a six-yard score for the Badgers, and Austin Traylor caught a four-yard touchdown pass for a 20-7 lead, but Justin Davis came up with his second short score of the day and Darreus Rogers caught a seven-yard touchdown pass for a 21-20 USC lead late. The Badgers were able to hang in with a strong late 42-yard drive for the game-winning score.

    What Else?

    – Wisconsin DE Jack Sichy made nine tackles, three sacks (on three straight plays), and created the pressure to force a key interception – all in one half.

    – USC QB Cody Kessler completed 18-of-32 passes for 221 yards and a score with a pick, and ran five times for 17 yards.

    – Wisconsin RB Corey Clement ran 19 times for 66 yards and a score before leaving the game hurt.

    – Time of Possession: Wisconsin 37:17 – USC 22:43

    – Total Yards: Wisconsin 394 – USC 286

Game Rating: A. There was controversy, a thrilling finish, lots of big moments, and it was a well-played game overall. It was a fight between two teams that each had chances and misfires, but in the end, the Badger D came through.
