Games vs. the North at Stanford, California, Oregon, at Washington
– Who starts out the season willingly playing Alabama? The game is in Arlington, and while it might be a big breakthrough moment for USC with a win, it’s a dangerous way to kick things off. Utah State isn’t a breeze the week after, and as always, the Notre Dame game is going to be a really big deal. That comes at the end of the regular season fun.
– The Trojans have to play the three best teams from the North, and to make it worse, they have to go to Stanford and Washington and they host Oregon. Missing Washington State isn’t bad, but not playing Oregon State isn’t a plus.
– There’s a terrific midseason stretch with just one game outside of Los Angeles from September 23rd to November 12th. The October 15th game against Arizona is the only road games with four home games and an off-week to groove on.
– Throw in the road game against UCLA – which is just up the road – USC leaves Los Angeles twice after September 23rd. One of those games, though, is at Washington.
– WATCH OUT FOR … the trip to Arizona on October 15th. It’s not like it’s a long first run, but the Trojans start out with seven straight games before getting a week off – the trip to Tucson comes when the team might be a bit gassed.
