March 20, 2017Kansas and North Carolina are the odds-on favorites to win the national title as the 2017 NCAA Tournament moves on to the Sweet 16.
The NCAA Tournament is down to 16 teams, with a few surprises coming in the first two rounds. No. 1 overall seed Villanova is gone, and Duke, who seemed to be on a roll, lost in the second round to a feisty South Carolina team.
With play scheduled to resume on Thursday, two teams, per Westgate Las Vegas Sportsbook, now see themselves as the favorites to bring a title home: Kansas and North Carolina.
The Jayhawks and Tar Heels are both listed at 4-1 to cut down the nets in Glendale during the first week of April, while fellow No. 1 seed Gonzaga, along with No. 2 seed Arizona, follows at 6-1. Kansas took care of business over the weekend, beating Michigan State 90-70, while North Carolina survived an upset bid by Arkansas 72-65.
Two teams that meet in the round of 16 – UCLA and Kentucky – are listed at 7/1. The two met back in December in Lexington, with the Bruins pulling out a 97-92 victory.
