The Rebels come into this matchup at 1-2. After beating Jackson State, 63-13, to open the 2016 season, UNLV fell in back-to-back weeks to UCLA and Central Michigan. However, the Rebels are still outscoring their opponents, 105-99, thanks to the season-opening victory.
Idaho has walked that same line, as far as its record is concerned. The Vandals squeaked out a win over Montana State in Week 1, 20-17. However, in Week 2, Idaho fell victim to Jake Browning and the Washington Huskies before losing to Washington State a week later. UNLV and Idaho are tied, 3-3, in the all-time series, but it’s the Vandals who hold the most recent win. When they met on Sept. 18, 2010, Idaho claimed a 30-7 victory over the Rebels. UNLV hasn’t won in the series since 2005.

UNLV Game Notes
- In his second season with the Rebels, head coach Tony Sanchez is 4-11 since taking over the program.
- UNLV is 148-125-3 when playing at home in Sam Boyd Stadium. This is the Rebels’ 46th year playing there.
- Both of the Rebels’ losses saw them trailing at halftime and ended with fewer than 30 points for Sanchez’s team.
- UNLV’s largest win over Idaho came back in 1978 when the Rebels outscored the Vandals by 39 points, 53-14.
Idaho Game Notes
- The Vandals’ game at UNLV wraps up its first three-game road stretch of the season. Idaho will make trips to Appalachian State, Louisiana-Lafayette and Texas State from Oct. 22 to Nov. 12.
- Quarterback Matt Linehan has completed 54.8 percent of his passes for 487 yards but has only one touchdown to one interception so far this season.
- Running back Aaron Duckworth has tallied 181 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 36 carries, but the Vandals are No. 7 in rushing offense in the Sun Belt Conference. They’re averaging 135.7 rushing yards per game.
