Non-Conference Games: Jackson State, at UCLA, at Central Michigan, Idaho
Games vs. the Mountain: Colorado State, Wyoming, at Boise State
– The Rebels get a nice warmup against Jackson State before dealing with road games at UCLA and Central Michigan. Playing Idaho in Sam Boyd should help ensure a 2-2 start.
– If the team really has improved in Tony Samuel’s second year, there’s a chance for a good Mountain West start with winnable games against Fresno State and Hawaii in the first three. Going to San Diego State will be the measuring stick.
– The big problem comes in the interdivisional play. It’s not fair to have to go to Boise State, and playing Colorado State doesn’t help. Getting Wyoming at home needs to be a must win.
– There’s a rough midseason run of three road games in four weeks, but it’s followed up by a week off before getting two home games in the final three. Closing out the regular season at home against Nevada should be a hoot.
– WATCH OUT FOR … the road trip to Hawaii. It’s coming off a road game at San Diego State and just before the Colorado State game. There’s no time to enjoy the fun – it has to be a business trip. That’s a lot of flying so early in the conference season.
