The UNC Tar Heels have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.

    Resume

    Team: North Carolina Tar Heels

    Record:
     28-6

    Conference:
    ACC

    Head coach:
    Roy Williams

    How they got here:
     Won conference tournament

    The Good

The Tar Heels feature four players who average double figures, and that kind of balance will keep opponents guessing. Brice Johnson is a double-double machine who is money on the low block, and the trio of Justin Jackson, Joel Berry II and Marcus Paige can all score and distribute. This is a high-scoring, battle-tested UNC team that also can play tough solid defense when it puts its mind to it.

    The Bad

Everything hinges on the play of Johnson, and when he’s not shooting well, it can take a while for UNC to adjust. Jackson, Berry and especially Paige can put up numbers, but step one all year has been to feed Johnson. When he’s off, it opens the glass and the transition game for UNC’s opponents.

    Prediction

The Tar Heels have the talent, quickness, balance and hunger to not only reach the second weekend, but the Final Four. Still, this team’s focus is a bit of a concern, so don’t pencil them in as a sure thing anywhere beyond the second round. The Tar Heels are capable of winning a national championship if they can get hot and play focused defense.
