UGA head coach Kirby Smart blanketed IMG Academy with 18 scholarships at one time.

Kirby Smart knows exactly what he’s doing. Never doubt that.

A few weeks ago UGA offered nine scholarships all at once to players at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, and with good reason. The Bulldogs haven’t signed a player from St. Thomas Aquinas during the modern recruiting era.

Now Smart and his staff have doubled up with another powerhouse high school in Florida.

On Tuesday, UGA offered 18 scholarships to players at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., according to Dawg Nation.

Smart knows Florida is the most talent-rich area in the country, and that a pipeline up to Athens, Ga. is imperative to sustaining a successful program in the SEC.

So, the master plan seems to be, “Let’s cast 100 lines and try to catch as many fish as possible.”

Among the players offered were No. 2 overall recruit Dylan Moses, 4-star linebacker Will Ignont and 4-star linebacker Jordan Anthony.

Ignont recently listed the Bulldogs as one of his top-10 teams, while Anthony is considering UGA’s rival, the Florida Gators, because he wants to be a two-sport athlete.

Here’s the complete list of IMG players who received an offer.

2017 QB Kellen Mond (Baylor commit)
    2017 DE Joshua Kaindoh
    2017 LB Will Ignont
    2017 DE/TE Tre McKitty
    2017 LB Dylan Moses
    2017 C Cesar Ruiz
    2017 OL Robert Hainsey
2017 S Isaiah Pryor (Ohio State commit)
    2017 LB/RB Jordan Anthony
    2017 WR Jhamon Ausbon
    2017 OL Broc Bando
2017 TE/DE Jack Camper (Michigan State commit)
    2017 WR Emmanuel Greene
    2018 WR Brian Hightower
    2018 DT Taron Vincent
    2018 DT TK Chimedza
    2018 RB Asa Martin
    2018 OL Curtis Dunlap

After helping the Bulldogs land the nation’s No. 9 class in the 2016 cycle with 20 commits, Smart is out making a statement: He will not be outworked on the recruiting trail.

“I think their message was they want to be a presence at IMG,” said Kevin Wright, the head coach at IMG. “They are going to go after the top players in the country, and wherever they are at they are going to find them. They see themselves as an elite program and they feel like they can win national championships. Winning those championships start for them by having great players.”

UGA is currently ranked as the No. 12 class in the 2017 recruiting cycle with six commits.
