UGA football recruiting update as of Thursday, March 3. The Bulldogs have flipped two from Alabama this week.

After taking an unexpected turn, Mitchell Wasson’s recruitment has officially come to a close. Wasson, the No. 15-ranked kicker in the nation, was a member of Alabama’s 2016 class, but decided to open things back up earlier this week. An expected walk-on, he cited scholarship uncertainty and the high cost of out-of-state tuition as his reasons for jettisoning the Tide.

On Thursday, Wasson closed his recruitment back up when he announced his commitment to the home-state Georgia Bulldogs.

He sent out the following tweet of him and new head coach Kirby Smart.

Fellow 2016 recruit Marshall Long, a three-star punter, is excited for Wasson’s addition.

Adding insult to injury for Alabama is the fact that Georgia flipped four-star quarterback Jake Fromm from the Crimson Tide on Thursday.

Smart is on a recruiting roll, and he’s not shying away from the competition of his former employer. He even has the chance to add another five-star prospect to the 2016 class in Demetris Robertson, who is heavily considering the Bulldogs.
