UCLA vs. Nebraska: Foster Farms Bowl live stream, TV broadcast information, and predictions. The Bruins will take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Santa Clara on Dec. 26 for the Foster Farms Bowl.
December 22, 2015The UCLA Bruins will take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Santa Clara on Dec. 26 for the Foster Farms Bowl.
The Bruins (8-4, 5-4 Pac-12) are in their fifth straight bowl game. UCLA rode the wave that was freshman QB Josh Rosen all season long, but unfortunately ended the regular season by losing two of the last three games. Last time out, the Bruins lost the battle of Los Angeles, 40-21, to USC. UCLA fought back to claim a 21-20 lead in the third quarter, but it was short lived as Rosen’s fumble was returned 31 yards for a touchdown. The Trojans would add two more Cody Kessler touchdown passes to break the game open. It was a game Rosen (19-37, 227 yards, TD) would like to put behind him as he threw a couple picks to Iman Marshall in addition to the fumble. Paul Perkins led the Bruins rushing attack with 95 yards on 17 carries while managing to find the end zone twice. UCLA is looking for its third straight bowl victory after beating Virginia Tech, 42-12, in the 2013 Sun Bowl and Kansas State, 40-35, in last year’s Alamo Bowl.
The Cornhuskers (5-7, 3-5 Big Ten) are in the postseason for the 52nd time in school history and for the 45th time in the past 47 seasons despite only having five wins in 2015. Mike Riley’s first season in Lincoln was a rough one, but Nebraska was able to win two of it last three. Unfortunately, the Huskers capped off the regular season with a tough, 28-20 loss to a then-undefeated Iowa Hawkeyes team. The Huskers never led in the game but were able to pull within four points in the third quarter. Jordan Canzeri then broke free for a 68-yard touchdown run to seal the deal for Iowa. Tommy Armstrong Jr. had a rough showing as he was picked off four times on the afternoon. Iman Cross was the lone bright spot for the Huskers offense. Despite gaining just 55 yards, Cross was responsible for both of Nebraska’s touchdowns on the day. Nebraska’s last win in a bowl game came in 2014, when the Huskers knocked off the Georgia Bulldogs, 24-19, in the Gator Bowl.
The 2015 Foster Farms Bowl will mark the 13th meeting between UCLA and Nebraska with the series currently tied at six apiece. The Bruins have won the last two matchups in 2012 and 2013.
Below is everything you need to know about the matchup, including the Foster Farms Bowl live stream, TV broadcast information, game notes and prediction.
For a 5-7 squad, the Huskers will show well at the Foster Farms Bowl. However, they won’t have the athletes or the ball security to capture anything more than a moral victory. Perkins and Rosen will be more effective than Cross and Armstrong, who’ll again hurt his team with costly second-half turnovers. Rosen, in particular, will use this Santa Clara event to get a head start on his sophomore season, earning MVP honors with a couple of touchdowns and more than 300 yards through the air.
