January 29, 2017UCLA freshman Lonzo Ball watched his brothers and prospective future Bruins combine for 65 points on Saturday night.
Despite dropping back to back games to fall to 19-3, UCLA is still having a fantastic 2016-17 college basketball season, led by star freshman Lonzo Ball.
And the Bruins don’t look to be dropping off of the national radar any time soon, especially with more productive scorers coming through Westwood in the future.
Ball was in the house to watch his brothers and his former team, Chino Hills (CA), extend its winning streak to 58 games with a 106-80 win against Wasatch Academy (Mount Pleasant, UT) in the Rolling Hills Prep State Preview on Saturday.
Chino Hills, which is ranked No. 5 in the Super 25, is 23-0 on and now has 13 100-point games this season. The 106 points came roughly 24 hours after recording 124 against Damien (La Verne, CA) on Friday night.
Ball’s younger brothers combined for 65 of the 106 Chino Hills points. Class of 2019 point guard LaMelo Ball, who is committed to the Bruins, had 33 points and made nine three-pointers. Meanwhile, LiAngelo Ball, who is already signed with UCLA, had 32 points and six threes. The 2017 small forward finished with 52 points and 10 threes in a victory the previous night. The senior has games of 72 and 60 points this season.
On Saturday night, Ball was in attendance to see his brothers score 17 of Chino Hills’ 27 points in the first quarter. Similar to the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, the Huskies have no problem throwing up shots from almost anywhere on the court. And while opponents often get open looks, the pace of the game and constant defensive pressure wear down most every opponent.
The win by Chino Hills sets up a showdown with Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, VA) next weekend at the Nike Extravaganza at Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA).
