Tyler Dunning is expecting a scholarship offer from Alabama this spring after decommitting from Miami.
Alabama’s recruiting took a hit last week when the Crimson Tide lost three commits in two days. But hey, everyone is entitled to a bad day or two – even national champions.
The Tide is starting to roll again, though, as it’s targeting 4-star prospect Tyler Dunning, the No. 10 inside linebacker and No. 285 overall recruit in the 2017 class.
Dunning, who plays for the St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., decommitted from the Miami Hurricanes on Feb. 20.
The 4-star linebacker has Alabama rising up his board and vice versa. Dunning told SEC Country Alabama coaches like what they’re seeing in his game.
“They love my game film,” Dunning said. “They are going to come down here in the spring and see me work out at linebacker. They are going to offer me on the spot when they see me.”
While his relationship with Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt is still growing, Dunning is already close with Tide offensive line coach Mario Cristobal, a Miami, Fla. native.
Alabama will have to fight off Tennessee, Kentucky, Pittsburgh and Syracuse, all of whom Dunning says are on his list of top choices.
