The Trojan run defense hasn’t been all that awful. The D as a whole hasn’t been able to do come up with enough key stops to overcome the inconsistent offense, but the front line has been solid against the mediocre teams in the Sun Belt. The top ground games – Georgia Southern and Appalachian State – forget about it, but the Trojans have only allowed more than 200 yards three times in the last seven games. As long as ULL isn’t running wild, Troy has a shot.
Troy does an awful job of hanging on to the ball. The turnover margin hasn’t been good enough to overcome the problems of an offense that’s been spending all season trying to come up with some sort of a groove. Sure, the Trojan defensive front might be better than the overall stats might be suggesting, but at home in the season finale, the Ragin’ Cajuns might be able to put up a big performance on the ground, keep the ball for 35 minutes or more, and keep Troy’s attack on the sidelines.
ULL will roll. The offense hasn’t been able to overcome an inopportune and shaky defense over the last few weeks, but that’s all about to change. Expect a 300-yard day from the Ragin’ Cajun ground game.
