Five-star offensive tackle Trey Smith has a favorite and is currently working on trimming his list of top schools from six to five.

Five-star offensive tackle Trey Smith may be making the rounds, visiting the top schools he’s interested in attending, but in a recent interview with Derek Tyson of ESPN, the Jackson, Tennessee prospect has one that’s sticking out above the rest.

“Yes sir,” he told Tyson when asked if he was leaning towards a school.

Smith, however, is not ruling out the others just yet.

“The most important part is just taking more visits and getting more familiar with the campus and staff. To me, the main factor is life after football. There are lots of opportunities that come after playing the sport. I want to see what the school can do for me and the opportunities it can provide.”

Smith didn’t reveal or allude to which school that might be. He is currently looking at Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Tennessee. His next step is to cut his top six to a top five.

“Right now, my primary process is eliminating one more school just because I’m limited to five official visits. That’s the reason I want it to be just a top five. We haven’t determined the top five yet though.”

At 6-foot-6 and 300 pounds, he’s ready made for the college level. He’ll need to improve on his technique, but his size, balance and attitude that he approaches the game with could have him vying for early playing time as a freshman.

Smith has already unofficially visited all of his top schools, and will be using his official visits to get a deeper look at which one provides the best opportunity for him, both as a football player and student.

Alabama, Notre Dame and Ohio State will host him for their Texas A&M, Virginia Tech and Michigan games, respectively.

Smith is ranked as the No. 4 offensive tackle and No. 22 overall player in the 2017 recruiting class.
