The NCAA Tournament Committee will release its first edition of the top 16 seeds for March Madness on Saturday afternoon. Here’s how we see it unfolding.

There’s roughly four weeks until Selection Sunday, but that isn’t stopping the NCAA Tournament committee from informing the public how it sees the top of the field.

Committee chairman and Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis revealed a twist to the selection process this year, as the panel will unveil its top 16 seeds – or top four in each region – prior to the bracket’s full reveal on March 12.

The first edition will happen Saturday, Feb. 11 at 12:30 p.m. ET, which seems odd considering two ranked teams – Florida and West Virginia – will be in action against unranked opponents, and either of them being in the top 16 and losing shortly after could change the committee’s view right after its rankings popped up on the screen. Not to mention, there’s a host of top teams playing Saturday immediately after the seeds are unveiled.

Nevertheless, the NCAA Tournament has decided to put on its own show in an attempt to drum up some drama like the College Football Playoff, which releases its top four teams weekly leading up to Bowl Season. Call me a traditionalist, but the excitement of Selection Sunday hinged upon not knowing anything, instead of the top 16 seeds one month out. Oh well, I guess.

Here’s how I see the NCAA Tournament committee’s top 16 seeds to look come Saturday morning.
