November 10, 2015The No. 24 Toledo Rockets will travel north to take on the Central Michigan Chippewas in a Tuesday night MAC West conference tilt.
The Rockets (7-1, 4-1 MAC) are coming off a disappointing, 32-27 loss to Northern Illinois last Tuesday that spoiled their undefeated season and knocked them out of the top spot in the MAC West. The Rockets led the Huskies 27-19 with 13:45 left in the game, but Ryan Graham led the Huskies to two fourth quarter touchdown scores. The Rockets couldn’t answer as they missed a field goal to extend their lead and then Phillip Ely was picked off by Boomer Mays to seal the win for NIU. Kareem Hunt and Terry Swanson led the way for Toledo in a losing effort, carrying the ball a combined 41 times for 273 yards and two touchdowns. The Rockets needed Philip Ely to step up too, but he couldn’t get anything to go his way, completing 15-of-33 passes for just 136 yards, a touchdown and two costly interceptions.
The Chippewas (5-4, 4-1) have really enjoyed conference play having won three-straight and four of their last five against conference foes. Last time out Central Michigan pulled out a close 14-6 victory at Akron, led by Cooper Rush (23-of-37, 226 yards, 2 TD). Central Michigan led the entire way, even when a 57-yard touchdown Jerome Lane touchdown brought the Zips within one, but a 14-yard pass from Rush to Anthony Rice pushed the Chippewas lead to eight in the third quarter and Central Michigan never looked back. Tony Annese led the way for Central Michigan’s defense with a team-high nine tackles, including six solo stops in the victory at Akron. He also intercepted a pass to end the game, giving him a team-high two picks this year.
Toledo and Central Michigan will meet up for the 44th time on Tuesday night, in a series that dates back to 1928. The Rockets hold the advantage all-time by a 22-18-3 count and have won five straight.
Below is everything you need to know about the game, including the Toledo vs. Central Michigan online live stream, TV broadcast information, game notes and prediction.
Which CMU will show up? Will it be the one that stunned Northern Illinois, or the one that struggled so much against Ball State and Akron? It’s been a flaky squad, but it’s been excellent at home. The Chippewas have had a few extra days to prepare, and they should be ready to come up with a big national win.
