Four-star safety Todd Harris has committed to LSU, where he could become the next star in the secondary for the Tigers.

Watch out, SEC opponents. There might be another Tyrann Mathieu-like safety roaming the secondary for the LSU Tigers now with the commitment of 4-star Todd Harris.

Harris is the No. 94 overall top prospect in the 2017 recruiting class, including being the No. 9 top safety. From Plaquemine, Louisiana, he chose to play for the home-state Tigers over SEC rival Alabama, TCU, and Arizona State.

Versatile and tough, Harris has the type of size that teams need when facing taller wide receivers, and his ability to know where the ball is while in coverage is a trait that will be an asset as he makes the transition to the college game. His closing speed and instincts are excellent, something that is needed against the high-tempo offenses that conference teams such as Auburn and Alabama like to run nowadays.

The loss of Tre’Davious White and Jamal Adams in the Tigers secondary could open a possibility for Harris to compete immediately for playing time in his freshman season. He could also see some time at corner, where White was a standout for LSU.
