The Bucks had a 19-12 advantage from the free throw line, but they hit just 42.9 percent of their shots. Head Coach Mike Budenholzer has revolutionized Milwaukee’s offense this season, but the Bucks committed 14 turnovers. Milwaukee has a potential trade situation looming with Thon Maker, but the Bucks might also consider making a move for a secondary playmaker off the bench as the trade deadline nears.
The Thunder jumped out to an early lead and built on their advantage by clamping down in the second quarter. Oklahoma City held the Bucks to just 17 points in the second period en route to a 14-point halftime lead. Milwaukee made things interesting on Eric Bledsoe’s late 3 to cut the deficit to three, but George answered with a long ball of his own to seal the win.
This was Oklahoma City’s fifth straight win and it comes at a crucial time for the Thunder. They’ll be heading on a three-game road trip featuring teams with a combined 73-72 record. Oklahoma City has struggled this season closing out inferior teams but the Thunder will be hoping a five-game winning streak can keep the momentum going.
