I don’t know what to think about Texas. That win over Notre Dame is the reason the Longhorns are ranked in the first place, but that’s a far less-impressive victory now that the Fighting Irish stink. They certainly can score, but Oklahoma State can, too. I’m going with the Cowboys in a sloppily played shootout.

Well, we know one thing: Texas players won’t be wearing sweatpants before this game. Now that he’s fixed that glitch, Charlie Strong better hope the extra bye week reps shored up his secondary. Mason Rudolph and James Washington are, quite possibly, the nation’s top quarterback-wide receiver duo and could put a hurting on the Longhorns much like Davis Webb and Cal did.

There have also been grumblings that Oklahoma State would shake up its staff in order to fix its own defensive liabilities. Ultimately, I say Texas’ ground game controls the clock enough to bleed out a few possessions and win the game; however both teams walk away further exposed.

Shane Buechele is playing — point-blank, enough said. Oklahoma State is coming off an 11-point loss at Baylor. And the Cowboys are allowing 274.5 passing yards per game. The true freshman is about to pick apart the Oklahoma State secondary, and D’Onta Foreman will run for days. The Longhorns take this one on the road by one possession.

Dave Miller

The Longhorns are coming off of a bye week following their loss at Cal, while the Cowboys are looking to get back on track following their loss to Baylor. I expect a lot of yards and a lot of points in a traditional Big 12 shootout. The Longhorns have too much of a potent ground game, and Charlie Strong’s defense will be able to make enough fourth-quarter stops to come out on top.

I’m just going to assume that the first one to 45 points wins this one, as both offenses can light up the scoreboard and both defenses can’t stop anyone. Shane Beuchele will be a star in Austin for a long time, and his popularity will grow even more as he wills the Longhorns to a win in Stillwater.
