Texas vs. Baylor prediction, online live stream and TV broadcast information for Saturday's game between the Longhorns and Bears.
February 19, 2016The No. 24 Texas Longhorns will host the No. 25 Baylor Bears in Austin, Texas on Saturday in hopes of sweeping the season series.
The Longhorns (17-9, 8-5 Big 12) ended a two-game slide Tuesday with an 85-78 win over No. 10 West Virginia. The Mountaineers took an early lead, but the Longhorns shot themselves out of the deficit with the long ball and took a 45-36 lead into halftime. Texas led by as many as 15 in the second half before West Virginia closed the gap in the final minutes, but it wasn’t enough. The Longhorns were dominated on the glass (35-19), but their three-point shooting (45.5 percent) and free throw shooting (83.3) were pivotal in the win. Isaiah Taylor led Texas with 23 points and was a perfect 13-of-13 from the charity stripe, while Eric Davis Jr. and Tevin Mack combined for 25 points off the bench.
The Bears (19-7, 8-5 Big 12) have won two of their last three games and are coming off a 100-91 overtime win over No. 13 Iowa State Tuesday night. In the extra frame, Johnathan Motley tipped in a miss to put Baylor up early and it never trailed again. The Bears connected on key free throws down the stretch to secure the much-needed win. In a game where both teams shot extremely well, Baylor had the edge in three-point (44.4), free throw (78.6) and overall field goal percentage (53.8). Six Bears found themselves in double-digit scoring including all five scorers. Motley was the high man for the Bears as he finished with a game-high 27 points and 10 rebounds, good for his fourth double-double of the season.
The in-state rivals will meet for the 247th time on Saturday as the Longhorns lead the all-time series 162-84. Texas took the previous matchup this season, defeating Baylor, 67-59, in Waco, Texas on Feb. 1.
Below is everything you need to know about the matchup, including the Texas vs. Baylor prediction, online live stream and TV broadcast info, and game notes.
Texas is peaking at the right time and has played well at home, which is bad news for the Baylor Bears. Isaiah Taylor has truly asserted himself as the leader of this team. He is a guy who can score in bunches, find his teammates and rarely turns the ball over. How he goes is how the Longhorns will go in this one as long as Prince Ibeh and Co. can limit the Baylor bigs production inside.
