March 10, 2016The Texas Tech Red Raiders have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.
Team: Texas Tech Red Raiders
Record: 19-12
Conference: Big 12
Head coach: Tubby Smith
How they got here: At-large bid
When the Red Raiders are rolling, it’s because of Toddrick Gotcher and Aaron Ross. They make things happen on both ends of the floor and force teams to guard away from the bucket. That opens the lane for the rest of the Texas Tech team, making lives easier. Devaugntah Williams is a solid scorer, as well, and Zach Smith is a solid contributor in the paint.
Texas Tech is wildly inconsistent, and you just don’t know what you’re going to get every time the team takes the floor. The Red Raiders can be sloppy, they shoot the ball poorly from 3-point range, and they can get a bit selfish at times. Texas Tech’s defense can be suspect for long stretches, to boot.
Texas Tech is lucky to be in the tournament, and you never know which team is going to show up. Under the pressure of the Big Dance, it’s an early exit that will leave Red Raider fans wondering what might have been.
