Look out, Kirby Smart. Someone else is trying to nab one of your 2018 commits, and the culprit is Tom Herman.

On Thursday, Texas extended a scholarship offer to 4-star prospect Max Wray, from Franklin Tennessee, as reported by 247Sports. Ranked as the No. 7 offensive tackle and No. 55 overall player in the 2018 recruiting cycle, Wray committed to Georgia on March 31, becoming the Bulldogs’ first commit in the class.

But that hasn’t stopped other Power Five programs from knocking down his door. The Longhorns are simply the latest school to put an offer on the table for Wray. He also holds offers from Auburn, Florida, Louisville, LSU, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC and others.

At 6-foot-6, 281 lbs Wray is the complete package at the offensive tackle position. He has long arms and quick, decisive footwork. Moreover, he does a great job of gaining leverage by getting his hands inside and under his opponent’s chest plate. Wray has a wide frame and is highly intelligent in both pass protection and running schemes.

In all, Texas has offered 29 players outside the Lone Star State. Wray is also the fourth player committed to an SEC program that the Longhorns have targeted. He joins 4-star quarterback Joey Gatewood (Auburn commit), 4-star wide receiver Jordan Moore (Texas A&M commit) and 4-star athlete Caden Sterns (LSU commit).

Texas is currently without any commits in the 2018 class.
