The Texas Longhorns have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.

    Resume

    Team: Texas Longhorns

    Record:
    20-12

    Conference:
    Big 12

    Head coach:
    Shaka Smart

    How they got here:
     At-large bid

    The Good

The Longhorns feature the kind of disruptive defense that creates a lot of turnovers, and although Shaka Smart hasn’t quite refined his system at Texas just yet, the Longhorns keep improving. Offensively, Isaiah Taylor is great going to the rim and is a master in transition. Javan Felix is a solid inside-outside scorer and can find cutters when the double teams come. This is a well balanced lineup.

    The Bad

Size is a problem, and Texas doesn’t feature a go-to guy in the post who can make things happen. Cameron Ridley used to be that guy, but he’s been out of the lineup for ages, and the Longhorns miss his presence. He looks like he will play in the tourney, but there’s a question over how much he can contribute after missing two and a half months.

    Prediction

Shaka Smart teams are capable of anything, especially considering the defense the Longhorns bring to the floor. This is a tough, battle-tested team, and it will be competitive no matter who it faces. Still, this is a vulnerable squad that could as easily be an upset victim as it could be a Sweet 16 team.
