Texas football recruiting update as of April 11, 2017, as the Longhorns have now added their second commit in the 2018 recruiting class.

Tom Herman’s staff has been hanging around in the recruitment of 4-star quarterback Tanner McKee, but even if the Longhorns end up with his pledge, that won’t stop them from taking a second quarterback in the 2018 class.

It looks like that honor will go to 4-star quarterback Casey Thompson, despite the fact his father and brother both played for Oklahoma. Thompson is set to decide which side of the Red River Rivalry he wants to play on, with his commitment coming on Thursday, and all signs are pointing toward him ending up in Austin.

What Herman will need to do then is add some weapons.

Texas would love to land 5-star wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr., but it looks as though he’s going to end up at either LSU or TCU — barring any unforeseen changes in his recruitment.

Four-star wide receiver Brennan Eagles is a different story, though. He attended Texas’ junior day, and the Longhorns are in a great position to land his eventual commitment.

Texas also recently offered JUCO tight end Dominick Anderson, a 6-foot-5, 249-pound prospect from Arizona Western Community College. He’s received other offers from Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Oregon, Tennesee and others, but the Longhorns have time to gain momentum with him.
