The Texas A&M spring game is set for Saturday, April 9. Here’s info on the Maroon & White Game, including time and how to watch.
For the first time since Johnny Manziel was doing his thing on the field in College Station, head coach Kevin Sumlin and his Aggies are having a spring game. Kyle Field was under construction the past two years, prohibiting the Aggies from hosting an end-of-spring scrimmage.
Gone are both quarterbacks Kyler Murray and Kyle Allen. All eyes will be on the quarterback race between graduate transfer Trevor Knight and junior Jake Hubenak. Knight brings experience, throwing for 3,424 yards and 25 touchdowns while at Oklahoma.
No matter the quarterback, the offense will be learning a new system in offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone’s first year. Finding a replacement for running back Tra Carson will be key, with the trio of junior James White, freshman Traveon Williams, and junior Keith Ford fighting for playing time.
The much-maligned defense will be in its second year under coordinator John Chavis, and will look at sophomore defensive lineman Daylon Mack to provide the pressure up front alongside junior Zaycoven Henderson.
The secondary was a strong point last season, and juniors Armani Watts and Donovan Wilson return and should be helped out by the addition of junior Priest Willis, a transfer from UCLA.
