March 10, 2016The Texas A&M Aggies have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.
Team: Texas A&M Aggies
Record: 26-8
Conference: SEC
Head coach: Billy Kennedy
How they got here: At-large bid
Texas A&M has been fantastic working under the radar this season, but it features one of the best combos you’re going to find in the NCAA Tournament. Jalen Jones is a slasher who can also get to the free-throw line, and his ability to clean up on the glass makes him tough to defend. He’s explosive off the floor. Danuel House is a fantastic 1a option, someone who can take over on his own and is great in transition. Alex Caruso is the guard who keeps it all together.
The Aggies can lose focus at times, and it’s hard for them to dial back in. There’s a reason this team went on a four-game skid in early February, and it had nothing to do with the competition. The team seems to have worked out its chemistry issues, but when the pressure gets turned on, who knows? Rocky 3-point shooting is another concern.
Everyone focuses on Kentucky in the SEC, but the Aggies are a dangerous team that has scored some solid wins this season. They were 3-0 against the RPI top 25 during the regular season, and play with a chip on their shoulder. They’re a threat to survive to the second weekend.
