Four-star wide receiver Terrace Marshall is “very impressed” with LSU after having visited one of the Tigers’ spring practice sessions.

As the seasons change and teams head into spring practice, recruitment for some of the nation’s top recruits is heating up. Take 4-star wideout Terrace Marshall, who has started piling up scholarship offers – in the past month alone, Florida, Florida State and Georgia have all extended offers.

It’s another southern school, however, that has really caught Marshall’s eye: the LSU Tigers. Hailing from Bossier City, Louisiana, Marshall attended the home-state Tigers’ junior day on February 18 and then recently spent time at an LSU spring practice session. He walked away impressed with head coach Ed Orgeron’s team.

“After going to their practice [Saturday], I really liked what I saw,” Marshall told 247Sports. “It was a lot of moving around, a lot of motion, they spread the ball out, so I was very impressed.”

That’s a good impression for Orgeron and new offensive coordinator Matt Canada, as they work to inject life into an offense that fell stagnant under former head coach Les Miles and former OC Cam Cameron. The Tigers were rarely short on talented receivers – the likes of Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry gave way to Travin Dural and Malachi Dupre – but were rarely able to maximize their potential. In his first year in Baton Rouge, Canada will look to liven up the pace, get receivers out in space, and by way of that unclog the middle of the field for All-SEC running back Derrius Guice.

As for Marshall, the No. 2 wideout in the nation and No. 17 overall player, the Tigers have stiff competition from a bevy of schools boasting offensive firepower. Outside of LSU, Marshall says Texas A&M, Texas, Oregon, TCU, and Miami are all pursuing him the hardest.

There’s also the aforementioned Florida Gators, who have ratcheted up their pursuit. Marshall called Florida’s a “dream come true” offer, and also said that receivers coach Kerry Dixon, “told me he wanted me to come down there and visit and get to know him a little bit, and he wanted me to be his guy.”

So while LSU right now appears to have the clear inside track, there are a host of programs nipping at its heels – most notably the two SEC compatriots, Texas A&M and Florida.
