February 18, 2017Wisconsin could be in great position for the commitment of four-star running back Tavion Thomas. He is one of the best running backs in the Midwest.
One can make an argument that Wisconsin is Running Back U.
Melvin Gordon, James White and Ron Dayne have all succeeded in Madison and gone onto the NFL. Is Tavion Thomas the next tailback headed to play for the Badgers?
The Dayton (OH) Dunbard four-star talent has Wisconsin high on his list of college choices, according to 247Sports.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Class of 2018 product is seeing his offer list continually grow, but no school has recruited as hard as the Badgers.
Thomas said that the ground game in Madison is the main reason why he is attracted to the school. While he has not visited Paul Chryst and Co. yet, he has been impressed.
“I know they’re a good academic school,” Thomas said. “And most of their running backs went to the NFL. And I love their coaches.
“They just really love me as a person and as a player. They really see me making it big!”
As a junior, Thomas carried 137 times for 1,606 yards and 17 touchdowns. He is one of the better backs in the Midwest.
Besides Wisconsin, Thomas holds offers from Michigan State, Kentucky and Iowa State, among others. Thomas took a recent visit to Kentucky for junior day and plans to visit Cincinnati and then head to Ohio State. A trip to Pittsburgh is then scheduled for Feb. 25.
