Four-star wide receiver Tarik Black named the Alabama Crimson Tide as his top school and pushed up his college commitment date.

The college commitment for the nation’s No. 99 overall prospect was supposed to occur on Jan. 7 at the U.S. Army All American Bowl, but it will now be coming much sooner than that.

Four-star recruit Tarik Black, the No. 13 wide receiver in the 2017 recruiting class, told SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner his decision will be announced within the next two to three weeks. Black also labeled Alabama as his No. 1 school at the moment and cited both the Crimson Tide’s winning atmosphere and NFL pedigree as reasons why.

“They have everything — wide receiver production, national championships, tradition and development from the coaching staff,” Black said.

The 6-foot-4, 206-pound playmaker took an official visit to Tuscaloosa on Nov. 12 for the Crimson Tide’s 51-3 thrashing of Mississippi State. Black spent an official visit in Auburn on Sept. 10 when the Tigers fell to Texas A&M, 29-16, and he also visited Michigan on Sept. 3 when it beat Hawaii, 63-3.

However, as Kirschner pointed out, the Wolverines appear to be the favorite to land Black, as the Tide have focused more on other wide receivers like 4-star commits Jerry Jeudy and Tyrell Shavers along with 5-star receiver DeVonta Smith, and 4-star prospects Henry Ruggs III and Nico Collins.

Collins, however, is likely headed to Ann Arbor, as he told Campus Insiders in June that he can easily see him catching passes from 4-star quarterback Dylan McCaffrey (a Michigan commit) in The Big House.

Despite the fact that Black and Collins appear to be leaning towards Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines, don’t count Nick Saban out until the ink hits the paper.
