    5 Keys to the Schedule

    – Last year the Cardinal started out the season with a loss to the Wildcats, and now they play a different version. They lost to Northwestern, and this year they get Kansas State. At least the game is at home.

    – In an odd twist the last non-conference game is at home against Rice. Considering the other two are against Kansas State to open things up, and a trip to Notre Dame in the middle of the season, the team will have earned the relatively easy date.

    – There’s no Arizona State or Utah from the South, and getting Colorado at home helps, but having to travel to Arizona is a bear and dealing with both USC and UCLA to start the Pac-12 season isn’t fun. At least there’s a week off before getting USC.

    – There are too many tough road stretches to get comfortable. After USC, Stanford is away three times in four weeks, gets Colorado at home, and then is on the road three times in the following four weeks.

    – WATCH OUT FOR … the road game at Arizona on October 29th. It’s not a bad stretch with Colorado and Oregon State at home wrapped around the trip to Tucson. Beat the Wildcats, and there should be a nice stretch of wins sandwiched in between road trips to Notre Dame and Oregon.
