February 18, 2019The college football head coaching carousel has come to a stop, and we now know where the top 2019 recruits will be attending school after the conclusion of the spring National Signing Day. Spring games will start later this month and we’re about six months away from Week 1 of the college football season. We finally have a sense of what schools’ coaching staffs and rosters will look like, which means we can begin to analyze which teams are poised to have a strong 2019 as they head into spring practice.
It should be no surprise that last year’s national champion and runner-up – Clemson and Alabama – are in a great position to make another run to the College Football Playoff National Championship with the return of Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, plus numerous offensive playmakers for both schools.
There are also some new faces, like Nebraska and Missouri, that have momentum to be top-25 caliber teams after finishing the 2018 season ranked outside of the top 25.
Here are Stadium College Football Insider Brett McMurphy’s pre-spring top 25 rankings.
