The Monarchs are playing their best ball in November, winning the last two to pull within a win of their first-ever bowl game. The offense has led the way behind the quartet of dual-threat QB David Washington, RB Ray Lawry and receivers Zach Pascal and Jonathan Duhart.
No one, not even Western Kentucky, is playing better than the Golden Eagles in Conference USA. Since losing to Marshall on Oct. 9, they’ve torched the last four opponents by an average score of 44-11. A suspect ODU D will struggle to slow an attack averaging 38 points per game and getting a great year from QB Nick Mullens.
Old Dominion is 95th nationally in pass efficiency defense, lacking the secondary talent to contain Mullens and receivers Mike Thomas, Casey Martin and D.J. Thompson. Plus, the Southern Miss defense is peaking, making it doubly unlikely that Saturday’s game will be competitive after halftime.
Final Score: Southern Miss 45, Old Dominion 16, Line: Southern Miss -21, o/u: 60.5
