The 2016 Southern Miss football schedule isn’t too bad and could be terrific as long as there aren’t any conference slip-ups at home.

    Oct. 22 OPEN DATE
    Oct. 29 Marshall
    Nov. 5 Charlotte
    Nov. 12 at Old Dominion
    Nov. 19 at North Texas
    Nov. 26 Louisiana Tech

Non-Conference Games: at Kentucky, Savannah State, Troy, at LSU

Games vs. the East: Marshall, Charlotte, at Old Dominion

    5 Keys To The Schedule

    – The two dates with the SEC at Kentucky and LSU might be too tough, but hosting Savannah State and Troy should mean at least a 2-2 non-conference run.
    – The run of three road games in four weeks isn’t quite as bad as it might seem going to UTEP and UTSA, but that third game is the date at LSU.
    – Missing WKU and Middle Tennessee from the East is a plus, but having to deal with Marshall stinks. Going to Old Dominion and facing Charlotte isn’t too bad.
    – The monster games against the Thundering Herd and Louisiana Tech are at home. In all, the conference road games aren’t that bad – they’re all winnable.
    – WATCH OUT FOR … the game against Rice. It’s the home oasis in the first month of conference play, going on the road for two of the three games. Lose, and the pressure is on against UTSA.
