Another stud defensive lineman is on his way to Hogtown. On Tuesday afternoon, 4-star defensive tackle Shavar Manuel announced that he intends to spend his college days playing for the Florida Gators.

Manuel sent out the following Twitter message revealing his decision.

Manuel is a big-time pickup for Jim McElwain and the Gators. He was recruited by defensive line coach Chris Rumph and d-coordinator Geoff Collins.

Despite the fact that Jim McElwain is an offensive-minded coach, Manuel’s commitment is a reaffirmation that the defensive side of the ball will continue to bring in elite talent under his direction.

Manuel is ranked by 247Sports Composite, which uses an industry-wide average for ranking prospects, as the No. 7 defensive tackle and No. 42 overall player.

Florida now has 26 commits for the 2016 recruiting cycle. Ten of those recruits are early enrollees.
