There’s a shakeup at the top of the SEC East standings following Tennessee’s blowout loss to Alabama. The Volunteers dropped their second straight game, subsequently falling out of first place in the division. The Vols’ loss is Florida’s gain, as the Gators improved to 3-1 in conference play and now control their own destiny en route to Atlanta, despite having lost to Tennessee.

Kentucky, who had a bye, is now tied with Tennessee at 2-2. The Wildcats and Volunteers play on Nov. 12.

Georgia’s loss to Vanderbilt essentially removed the Bulldogs from SEC title contention in Kirby Smart’s first year.

On the other side of the SEC, Alabama improved to 4-0 in conference play to match Texas A&M, who was on a bye this past week. The Crimson Tide and Aggies meet in Tuscaloosa in Week 8, with winner assuming the driver’s seat in the SEC West race.

Auburn and LSU are also still in the hunt, each with a 2-1 record. The Tigers from The Plains are a Texas A&M loss away from controlling their destiny, while the Tigers from the bayou are an Auburn loss away from controlling their’s.
