For the first time since Steve Spurrier was coach, the Gators will take on a Georgia team not led by Mark Richt. Florida hopes they will enjoy the same success against Kirby Smart as they did Richt, given they were 10-5 all-time against the former head coach. With looming road games against Arkansas and LSU, the Gators can’t afford to slip up if they hope to hold onto their lead in the SEC East. After enjoying a bye week last week, the Bulldogs surely will want to prove they are better than the team who lost to Vanderbilt two weeks ago.

Fellow ranked teams Tennessee and Auburn will also play away from home this weekend, as they travel to South Carolina and Ole Miss respectively. Despite the struggles of the Gamecocks this year, the game against the Volunteers could be a close one if history has anything to say about. Each of the last three contest between the divisional foes has been decided by three points or less, and the last time Tennessee won by double digits in Columbia was 2004.

The Auburn-Ole Miss tilt features two teams heading in different directions. After nearly upsetting Alabama and dominating Georgia, Ole Miss has lost its mojo and looked stagnant at times during back-to-back loses to Arkansas and LSU. Auburn, meanwhile, is ranked the highest it’s been since a No. 6 preseason ranking before last season. They are coming off a thoroughly dominant win against the Razorbacks and will look to return the favor after the Rebels beat them last year.
