SEC Championship Game online live stream, TV broadcast information, and predictions. The No. 2 Crimson Tide will play the No. 18 Gators in Atlanta Saturday in the 2015 SEC Championship game.
December 2, 2015The No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide will face the No. 18 Florida Gators in Atlanta this Saturday in the 2015 SEC Championship Game.
The Crimson Tide (11-1, 7-1 SEC) will represent the SEC West division in the title game for the second consecutive season after defeating Missouri last year. Alabama comes into the title game winners of nine straight, including last week’s 29-13 victory over Auburn in the Iron Bowl. This one was closer than many anticipated as the Tigers hung within six points after three quarters, but a field goal and a late Derrick Henry 25-yard touchdown run put the game away for the Tide. Henry was the centerpiece of Alabama’s game-plan, carrying the ball a school-record 46 times for 271 yards, the third most in school history and most for a Crimson Tide running back vs. Auburn. The win gave Alabama its 19th 11-win season in program history and seventh under Nick Saban.
The Gators (10-2, 7-1 SEC) will represent the SEC East division in the title game for the first time since 2009 and will appear for the 11th time since the game’s creation in 1992. Florida saw its four-game winning streak come to an end last week as it fell to in-state rival Florida State, 27-2, at home. The Gators were down 13-0 before they recorded their first points via safety and would never score again. The Florida offense struggled yet again under the direction of Treon Harris (19-of-38, 134 yards), who was inaccurate all afternoon. The Gators were in the red zone on three occasions and failed to convert on all of them. The bulk of the work fell on the shoulders of Kelvin Taylor, who rushed 24 times for 136 yards. It was his third straight 100-yard effort and Taylor needs just 23 yards to become Florida’s first 1,000-yard rusher since 2012 (Mike Gillislee).
Alabama and Florida will meet for the 39th time on Saturday and the eighth time in the SEC title game. The Tide and Gators last met in Atlanta in 2009, with the Alabama winning that matchup 32-13. Florida, however, holds a 4-3 edge over the Tide in SEC championship games dating back to 1992.
Below is everything you need to know about the matchup, including the SEC Championship Game online live stream, TV broadcast information, game notes and prediction.
Florida will do a decent job of slowing the roll on Henry’s Heisman run, but the offense isn’t going to be able to move a lick. There will be a moment in the first quarter when the Gators score and there’s a thought of something special happening, but that will go away quickly. This won’t be pretty in any way, but it’ll be effective as the Tide rolls on.
