    Baylor Needs A Bowl Win

The Bears still wouldn’t have gotten into the playoff if they came up with the double-overtime win over TCU, and it almost would’ve been better if they didn’t finish 11-1. As painful as it was to finish fifth in the CFP rankings last year, it would’ve been a dubious distinction to be just outside the rope for a second straight year. But they still got a sweet bowl spot, and now they have to win it after losing the 2015 Cotton Bowl to Michigan State in brutally painful last-second fashion, and dropping the 2014 Fiesta Bowl to UCF. This might be an elite program now, and it has to win this game to help solidify that perception.

North Carolina won’t want to step foot in Charlotte anytime soon

At Bank of America Stadium this fall, the Tar Heels were 0-2. Everywhere else, unbeaten. Carolina dropped its opener to South Carolina and this past weekend’s ACC Championship Game to Clemson … both, ironically, in Charlotte. Otherwise, it was a revelatory year for Larry Fedora, who began it on the hot seat and ended it with a seven-year contract extension and a fat raise. Despite bowing to the Tigers, this was a breakout season for the Heels, who’ve long been one of the ACC’s sleeping giants. Fedora has awoken the beast, and now has the program’s most prominent bowl event in almost two decades to further build momentum and spread the brand to a wider audience.
