Rodney Scott has committed to the Miami Hurricanes, choosing to play his college football close to home.

Mark Richt is just getting started, folks. Keep that in mind.

The new Miami head coach landed a big commitment from 4-star recruit Rodney Scott, the No. 51 wide receiver in the 2017 class. Scott, from Miami, Fla., chose to stay close to home, according to 247Sports.

Scott said the Florida Gators made a strong push but finished second to the Hurricanes for his commitment.

“It’s my hometown,” Scott said. “They kept in contact the most. Why put on for a team out of state when I can for my home state team?”

Scott is a solid addition to a Miami that added 4-star quarterback Jack Allison and 4-star wide receivers Dionte Mullins and Sam Bruce in the 2016 class, too.

Scott believes he can bring a lot to an already talented roster.

“Miami needs receivers, and they have a need there, so I feel I can help them,” Scott said.

Richt’s 2017 class now has 11 commits, and appears to only be gaining steam. Sit back and watch as the former Miami quarterback pulls in more talent to his alma mater.
