Robert Griffin III called Santana Moss a “liar” after Moss claimed he was happy that the Washington Redskins fired Mike Shanahan in 2013.

Robert Griffin III didn’t mince words about former Redskins receiver Santana Moss on Twitter following Moss’ appearance on a Washington D.C. sports radio show.

During the show, Moss revealed that Robert Griffin III was “happy” when the team fired Mike Shanahan in 2013.

“When the whole thing went about, we hear that Mike Shanahan’s not coming back the next year, then we hear the quarterback like, ‘Hey. Mm-hmm,'” Moss told Chad Duke of 106.7 The Fan. “Like, basically saying that, ‘Hey, you got me out of here not playing last year, the last few games, then that’s what happens. You get fired.”

The Redskins fired Shanahan after a 3-13 season, which was one year after the Redskins won the NFC East in 2012. Griffin won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2012 but was benched by the Shanahan for the final three games of 2013.

Shortly after Moss’ appearance on The Fan, Griffin sent out a series of tweets and claimed that Moss openly lied about him.

Griffin’s time in Washington ended on a sour note. After battling injuries in 2014, he was inactive for the entire 2015 season as Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy were ahead of him on the depth chart.

The Redskins released Griffin in March of 2016 and he signed a two-year deal with the Browns. The former Heisman Trophy winner was let go by Cleveland this past March.
