Who are the most annoying college fan bases on social media? Recruits name them at the Under Armour All-America festivities.
December 30, 2015Social media, particularly Twitter, has opened up a whole new world with recruiting. Instead of fans simply following along with the process via a media outlet or message board, they can now actively participate in attempting to sway a recruit’s mind.
As with all social media, the exposure athletes have is both a positive and negative. It gives them a voice, but also creates a window into their world and direct communication line to be reached on.
This may come as a shock to you, but fans can get crazy and annoying, especially when a top recruit is deciding between two rival schools.
But which college fan bases are the most annoying on social media?
Players participating in the Under Armour All-America Game were asked that, and according to ESPN’s Jeremy Crabtree, one program jumped out more than any other: Florida.
The Gators were not alone, however. Other fan bases to receive multiple mentions were: Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
The moral of the story? Next time you are thinking about pushing send on those 140 characters (or less), step back and ask yourself if you would be annoyed by this as a 17 or 18-year-old high school kid.
